Dynamite Canyon and beyond

From the back of this pic is Margie, Al, Greg, Bill and Bev.  We rode to Dynamite Canyon via the wash getting ready for our pack trip.

WOW
Al with Margie peeking out behind and Greg right behind him.
Lady says "Wow, a pond in the desert"!
Gorgeous Bev and Bill
Al and the famous Al scowl.
How cute are they?   Margie and Greg.
This was a long ride, we left at 10:30am and got back around 5pm, my hiney was screaming holy schmoley by the time we got back.  Wouldn't have missed it for the world though.
Stay tuned...the next blog is a good one about a secret hidden horse motel way up on the mountain recently redscovered by our own Lewis and Clark.

Cupcake

This is Cupcake, formerly known as Deb as she made the grave mistake of telling us her nickname.  She will forever live on this blog as Little Debbie or "Cupcake".  Who wouldn't want that for a nickname, I mean who doesn't love cupcakes? While she was away, the prankster fairies came and assaulted her spur straps.
I PRETTY SURE I HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. I MEAN THAT'S NOT MY HANDWRITING...

Vegas

Aren't you glad I finally figured out how to make these pictures larger?
So, Terry and I went to Vegas for 4 days last week to shop for new suppliers.  The drive there is beautiful!

Lake Mead

Here's Crocodile Dundee in the City.  Check out that happy face.  He is so glad to be in Vegas again.
Here's Mrs. Crocodile.  There isn't a big enough cup of Starbuck's Coffee to make me feel happy at this show.  Nice face.  No one should look this bad on the red carpet.

The line for starbucks is long and this is only half the line as I am standing in the middle of it.  I don't care how long the line is, it is WORTH IT!
Classic... the Liberace plaza
Leaving town, Bye Bye Vegas, until next time!!

Dynamite canyon

Al and Duane riding in the river.  Oops, not that kind of river, out here it's called a WASH.  Not sure why since whenever we are in THE WASH it is just a DRY SANDY DITCH.  We like the wash though since as you can see, no rocks.  See Al's face here and how he doesn't look too happy.  This is a normal Al face but inside I know he is smiling as big as the sun!  You just have to ride with him to know this.

So this is a kind of a normal sight out here if you ride out far enough.  These humungo rocks just sitting on a mountain of other humungo rocks and there will be just one perched at the top.  Cool isn't it?
We are driving back from our trip to Vegas.  Will be blogging about that soon.  Stay tuned!

Panning for gold in them thar hills

There's gold in them thar hills!

Well, not really gold...a lot of sand, some pretty shiny rocks, some silver looking flakes of something that isn't silver and lots of fun climbing rocks and digging in the creek bottom.

Happy Wednesday!

Last Friday, trailered out to Oracle, AZ, a small town about 18 miles north of here.  The most beautiful ride yet.  Check this out:
Even Lady says "WOW"
Here comes Al & Margie
My 3 compadres.
This is my husband, in perfect heaven on earth.

We rode down the Charouleau Gap road, then dropped into a wash for a while looking for the old mining ghost town.
This house is part of the "ghost town".  Basically it's an abandoned silver mining operation.  Yup, the mine is still there and you can go into it.

Okay, yes this was spooky going in there but I  had to go in.
Looking up the shaft.
Down the shaft, no way did I have to climb down that ladder.
They had a generator barn that housed the now-gone huge generator that powered these few homes out here in the middle of nowhere with not even a road that approaches this place.
Check out the size of this tree relative to Margie's horses head.  How does a tree get that big in the desert?
See that big green glob of a plant hanging over our heads.  Who can tell me what kind of plant that is??????
