Survived first ride in the desert on new horse

Well, here we are, the first ride on a new horse in the desert.  I spent the morning imaging the worst, puffing up my chicken-hearted self with scary negative images of it going bad.  I did play with him first and did SOME savvy things to ensure a good ride.  I don't know what happend to me, I never would have felt scared or unconfident around a horse in any situation EVER.  Since I am 47, I am either WISER or just a big CHICKEN depending on how you look at it.

We just had our pre-pack trip meeting with Al and Margie and are all prepared with who is bringing what for this trip.  We leave next Thursday and are going over the mountain on a 3 day adventure.  Al asssures me I won't be terrified since there isn't any sheer drop-offs.  Looking forward to going on an adventure!

Back in paradise

Howdy all!
Welcome back to the blog for another exciting winter here in southern Arizona.  We had a good trip out here this year, no blizzards, blow outs or emergency rooms involved.  We have mucked out the trailer with Tom Smith's help, washed the outside, inside and set up the office.  Our ponies are settling in here.  I have brought a new pony this year, don't worry, Lady is still part of the family enjoying the winter off at home with Beth.  Here is the newest member of the family
Phinneaus Maximus completing the Sept. Michigan Shore-to-Shore Ride

He trailered well out here for his first-ever long trip and is settling in well here.  He told me he thinks it is kinda hot here for his Michigan winter coat and why didn't I tell him where we were going?  It is unusually warm here in the high 70's and low 80's.  Looking forward to lots of good riding adventures here in the desert.  Stay tuned for more adventures!
